Lowell L. "Buster" Compton, 59 of Welch, Oklahoma, died at 4:50 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at the home of his daughter, Susie Bradley, in Chetopa.

He was born July 20, 1947, in Monticello, Utah, to Calvin and Lucille (Myers) Compton. As a young boy, he grew up and attended schools in Lindrith, New Mexico, Siloam Springs and Gentry, Arkansas.

Through the years, he had worked as a self-employed welder and diesel mechanic. He enjoyed collecting and working on antique tractors and especially enjoyed building smokers and barbequing for various groups, including Indian pow-wows and his family reunions. He had lived in the Welch area the past ten years.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 20, 2007, at the Community Bible Church in Chetopa. Burial will be in Welch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 19, 2007, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
