Lucille M. Jones

Lucille M. Jones, 92, of rural Altamont, died at 8:58 a.m., Thursday, July 12, 2007, at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.

She was born October 16, 1914, in rural Altamont, to Joseph R. "Joe" and Bertha (Westervelt) Ware. As a young girl, she grew up and attended schools in Altamont, graduating from Labette County Community High School.

She and Earl S. Jones were married June 14, 1940, in rural Altamont. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed in rural Mound Valley. In 1946, they moved to rural Altamont where together they made their home for the following 60 years. She was employed as a cook for Arkhaven Nursing Home in Altamont for 12 years. Mrs. Jones was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, quilting, textile painting and cake decorating. She especially enjoyed and was always interested in the farming operations. Mrs. Jones attended the Lewark Church of God in Coffeyville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl S. Jones, on March 6, 2006; two infant sons, Marvin Lee and Donnie Ray Jones; one brother, Kenneth Ware; one sister, Edith Knitmeyer; and daughter-in-law, Mary L. Jones, who died January 29, 2006.


Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m., Sunday, July 15, 2007, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. Burial will be in the Mound Valley Cemetery.
