Edna

Lynn D. Weil, 79, of rural Edna, passed away at 5:44 p.m., Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Labette Health.

Lynn David Weil was born on May 5, 1944, to Henry E. and Beulah Frances (Wells) Weil in Dewey County, Oklahoma.  He grew up and attended school in the Edna area, graduating from Labette County Community High School in 1962.

Throughout his entire life, Lynn was involved in the cattle business. Growing up, he helped his parents with their Guernsey dairy herd. After high school, he traveled throughout the country helping with beef cattle auctions and fitting and showing registered Angus at major cattle shows.  For a time, Lynn managed a ranch close to Columbia, Missouri. After working for several established ranches in New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, and Northeast Kanas, he started his own beef cattle herd while living in Northeast Kansas.   In 1974, Lynn returned to the family farm in Edna, establishing the Mar-Lyn Ranch.

His love and knowledge of cattle, horses, ranching and rodeos was something that Lynn shared with many young people and others in the community.  He was involved with 4-H, local saddle clubs, and youth rodeos while raising his own family.  He enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren's activities, visiting with friends at the Edna Co-op, having Sunday morning coffee, going to auctions and rodeos, watching old Western TV shows and the Cowboy Channel.

On June 7, 1965, Lynn and Marilyn June Wagner were united in marriage in Manhattan, Kansas.  She survives of the home.
