Madeline Caruthers, 77, of Parsons, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at her home.
She was born September 19, 1940 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Donald L. and Thelma Opal (Leonard) Caruthers. She grew up in Tulsa where she attended schools and later graduated from the University of Tulsa where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism.
After college, Madeline moved to Parsons where she worked as a grant writer at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center from 1969-1976. In 1976, the grant writing project was moved to Nashville. She continued to work as a grant writer in Nashville until beginning employment in 1980 with the Hospital Corporation of America where she worked until 1984. In 2002, Madeline moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she lived until returning to Parsons in 2012.
She was an excellent bridge player and enjoyed playing every Friday at the Parsons Senior Center.
Survivors include:
One Brother – David Caruthers and his wife, Heather, of Kansas City, MO
One Nephew
One Niece
Longtime Dear Friend – Martha "Marty" Williams of Parsons, KS
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. No services are planned at this time.
