Malik D. Werner

Malik D. Werner, 16, of Parsons, died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident early Friday morning, July 19, 2013 near Parsons. He was born June 11, 1997 in Parsons to Maurice Simmons, Jr. and Shannon Werner. He grew up in Parsons and had attended Guthridge Elementary School. He attended Parsons High School, Oswego High School, and would have been in the Junior Class at Labette County High School in Altamont this coming school year. He enjoyed sports and cars and especially enjoyed spending time with his friends. Malik will always be remembered by his family and friends as the most caring and thoughtful person who always put his friends and family first in his life! Two Nephews – Jameire and JaLeel Simmons Numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Kenneth Werner, and Maurice Simmons, Sr.; and two uncles, Kent Riggs and Dennis Riggs. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the Foursquare Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Memorial contributions are requested for the family to assist with expenses.
