Mamie M. Gallagher, 95, of Parsons, died at 9:07 p.m., Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Girard Medical Center in Girard, Kansas.
She was born May 21, 1919 in Sherman City, Kansas to Wylie and Edith (Howe) Peak. She grew up and attended school in Sherman City and later moved with her family to Montana, Kansas.
She and William Bernard Gallagher were married August 17, 1940 in Oswego, Kansas. Following marriage, they lived in the rural Hallowell area where they farmed throughout their married life.
Mamie had been a resident at Woodridge Estates in Parsons the past seven years. She was a member of the Mother of God Catholic Church in Oswego and its Altar Society. She was also a member of the TOPS Club in Oswego. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, oil painting, traveling with her sisters, working in her yard, and cooking.
Survivors include one son, William J. "W.J." Gallagher and his wife, Linda, Columbus, KS; two grandchildren, Aaron Gallagher and Andrea Cooper and her husband, Richard; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mona McKee, Westerville, OH.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Gallagher, on September 5, 1990; five brothers, five sisters, one daughter, Kathryn Jean Gallagher; and one grandson, Kevin Gallagher, on February 15, 2010.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 6, 2014 at Oswego Cemetery under the direction of Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
