Marcus D. Morris, DVM, 86, of Parsons, died at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, December 6, 2007, at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born September 1, 1921, in Mound Valley, Kansas, the fourth of four sons, to Dan and Jessie (Jones) Morris.
He grew up in Erie and was a 1939 graduate of Erie High School. Following high school graduation, he attended Parsons Junior College and later earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University in 1944. While attending KSU, he was a student in ROTC. In 1943, he joined the United States Army. Dr. Morris was in General Practice of Veterinary Medicine in Parsons for 42 years.
He and Orvaline Smoot were married April 1, 1945, in Parsons.
He was a member of the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association and a 50 year member of the Parsons Masonic Lodge No. 117, A.F. & A.M.. He was also a past member of the Shriners and Parsons Lions Club.
He enjoyed fishing, woodcarving, stained glass and reading. He also was a longtime supporter and avid fan of the Kansas State University wildcats.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Evelyn, Merle and Olin Morris.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 10, 2007, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with military honors given by Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Masonic rites given by Parsons Masonic Lodge No. 117, A.F. & A.M.. Friends may call at the funeral home after 12:00 noon on Sunday.
