Margaret F. Grigsby

Margaret F. Grigsby, 84, of Chetopa, passed away at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

She was born March 3, 1933 in Chetopa, Kansas to Edgar Roscoe and Ada Mae (Bray) Bassett. Margaret grew up and attended school in Chetopa and later earned an Associate degree from Pittsburg State University.

She and Bennie H. Grigsby, Sr. were married April 18, 1953 in Tucson, Arizona. Following marriage, they moved to Los Angeles where she worked for over 30 years at the Veterans Administration as an administrative assistant until retiring at the age of 55. After retiring, the couple returned to Chetopa in 1989.

She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Chetopa. Margaret was a person who always put others first, loved animals, and in earlier years was a ham radio operator.

Ozella Edwards of El Cajon, CA

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie H. Grigsby, Sr. on April 22, 2017; three brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Chetopa. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m., on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
