Margaret R. Larue

Marge LaRue, 76, of Kingman and former long-time Parsons resident, passed away at 12:35 p.m., Friday, January 20, 2023, at Prairie Sunset Home in Pretty Prairie, Kansas.

Margaret Rita Lewis was born on October 25, 1946, to Oras E. and Clara B. (Switlik) Lewis in Parsons, Kansas.  As a young girl, she grew up in Parsons, attending St. Patrick Catholic School and graduating from Labette County Community High School in 1966.

After high school, Marge began her working career at Fred Ronald Manufacturing.  She then worked at Broderick's, the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant, and sewing plants in Chanute and Pittsburg.   She was the payroll officer at Beachner Construction for nine years until her retirement.  Marge lived in Parsons most of her life until moving to Kingman in 2019 to be closer to her family.

Marge was a member of St. Mary's and then St. Patrick Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society and the choir.  Singing and sewing were two talents Marge enjoyed and shared with family and friends.  Her family was the center of her life.

On December 28, 1970, Marge and Leslie A. LaRue were united in marriage in Miami, Oklahoma.  He preceded her in death on July 22, 2015.

Survivors include:

One son – Tom LaRue and his wife, Heather, of Kingman, Kansas

Two granddaughters – Devon Coon and her husband, Grant; and Regan LaRue and her fiancé, Michael Mains

Three great-grandchildren – Bradley, Kyson and Maylea Coon

One sister – Mary Ann Keller of Parsons, Kansas

She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister, Janice Katherine "Jan" Ray.

There will be a Celebration of Life 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons.
