Margaret E. Parks, 89, of rural Cherryvale, passed away at 9:15 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Cherryvale Care Center.
She was born June 13, 1924 in Cherryvale, Kansas to Verdine J. and Thelma Pearl (Gaddis) Sutton. She grew up and attended school in Cherryvale and was a graduate of Cherryvale High School. She then attended Wichita Business College.
Through the years, Margaret had worked as a bookkeeper for Reliance Manufacturing in Cherryvale, the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service in Altamont, Rural Water District No. 3, and the Mound Valley Housing Association.
In earlier years, Margaret was active in the Mt. Zion Church near Cherryvale and was currently an active member of the Mound Valley United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. For many years, Margaret had taught Sunday school and had also served as youth leader at the church. She enjoyed gardening and horses.
She and Robert L. Miller were married. He preceded her in death. On January 27, 1969, she and Richard E. Parks were married at the Mound Valley United Methodist Church. He survives of the home.

She was preceded in death by her father, Verdine Sutton; mother and stepfather, Thelma and Delph Martin; brother and sister-in-law, James and Phyllis Sutton; and stepdaughter, Marlys Parks.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Mound Valley United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.
