Maria C. Reyes

April 26, 1935 — December 10, 2021

Parsons

Maria C. Reyes, 86, of Parsons, passed away the morning of Friday, December 10, 2021, at her home.

Maria Consuelo Aleman was born on April 26, 1935, to Ignacio R. and Jacqueline (Soto Paz) Aleman in Fairmont City, Illinois.  She grew up in Fairmont City and attended Holy Rosary Parochial Catholic School until entering the Ursuline Convent in Belleville, Illinois, from seventh to ninth grade.  She then attended East St. Louis High School.

For ten years, Maria worked at Lane Bryant.  From 1963 to 2001, she worked for Indiana Bell, which is now A T & T, from which she retired.

Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.  Maria had a generous heart, wanting to help everyone, and donated to many causes.  She enjoyed going to the movies and watching talk shows and Star Trek.  Even though she was very health conscious, she enjoyed eating sweets, especially cake, milkshakes and smoothies. She also loved to knit, embroidery, and walk her puppy, Scotty-bandit.  Traveling with her husband was also a favorite activity.

After many years of being apart, Maria reconnected with her first love, Frankie A Reyes.  The two had met as young people in Indiana and Frankie went off to serve our country in the United States Air Force.  On September 16, 2005, Maria and Frankie A. Reyes were united in marriage in Greenfield, Indiana.  The couple moved to Parsons in 2008 to be closer to his children.
