Marie E. Fair, 83, of Chetopa, died at 8:20 p.m., Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Chetopa Manor Nursing Home.
She was born November 26, 1931 in Rolla, Kansas to Lewis and Iona (Bolin) Riley. She was a 1950 graduate of Chetopa High School. While attending high school, she worked for the telephone company in Chetopa.
On November 26, 1954, she and Roy E. Fair were married in Miami, Oklahoma. After marriage, she worked at Glenn Berry Manufacturing Company in Chetopa. She then was employed at Labette County Medical Center in Parsons where she worked in housekeeping and sanitization until retiring.
She was a longtime member of the Assembly of God Church in Chetopa and most recently a member of the Church of God in Chetopa. Marie enjoyed sewing and flower gardening.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Fair, of the home; one daughter, Rebecca Batchelor, Parsons, KS; five grandchildren, Bill Davis, Victor Batchelor, Tiffany Batchelor, Rebecca Batchelor and Chad Batchelor, two great-grandchildren; one brother, Lewis Richard Riley, Normal, IL; and one sister, Louise Kepford, Chetopa, KS.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Lake Creek Cemetery near Bartlett. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
Memorials are suggested to the Faith Baptist Church in Chetopa. These may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 346, Chetopa, KS 67336.
