Marie J. Leon

Marie J. Leon, 70, of Parsons, passed away surrounded by her family at her home at 7:44 p.m., Sunday, June 23, 2019.

She was born, January 5, 1949 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Richard E. and

Martha E. (Duran) Alley. She grew up and attended school in Tulsa.

She was united in marriage to Alfred L. "Freddie" Leon on August 13, 1965 in Tulsa. Following marriage, they lived in Tulsa for a time until moving to Parsons in 1968 where they have lived since. Marie worked as a cook at the former La Casa Grande restaurant, which was a Mexican restaurant owned by her father-in-law.   She later worked in environmental services at Labette Health for 25 years until retiring in 2008.

Marie was an excellent cook and was well known for her homemade tortillas. She loved spending time with her family. She also loved Elvis Presley and going to the casino, and she was a loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan. Marie was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons.

Survivors include: Her Husband: Alfred – of the home, One Son Freddie Leon (Juanita) – Lakewood, Colorado; Four Daughters: Christie Jenkins (John) – Parsons, Sherri Riggs – Parsons, Julia "Pudgy" Leon – Kansas City, Missouri, Tonya Dominguez (Fermin) – Parsons; Seventeen Grandchildren; Eighteen Great-grandchildren; One Sister: Susie Honeycutt – Muskogee, Oklahoma; Numerous Nieces and Nephews

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 28, 2019 at the Oakwood Cemetery. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the Rosary.
