Marilyn J. Barragar, 89, of St. Paul and formerly of Oswego, passed away early the morning of Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.
Marilyn Joan Wheelen was born on November 22, 1934, to Curtis Oliver and Margaret Rosetta (Cunningham) Wheelen in rural Oswego. She grew up and attended schools in the Oswego area, graduating from Oswego High School in 1952.
On March 9, 1952, Marilyn and Everett Barragar were united in marriage in Huntsville, Arkansas. The couple lived in Oswego until moving to Parsons in the early 1960's. For a time, she worked for Adventureline and then for several years at Litwin's. After working as a cook for USD 503 for a number of years, she retired. Upon retirement, the couple moved to Golden, Missouri. They enjoyed 25 years in the home Everett had built for them on Table Rock Lake in the Emerald Beach Addition, before returning to Oswego to be closer to family.
In earlier years, Marilyn was member of the Friendship Baptist Church. She had also been a member of the Parsons Riding Club. While living at Table Rock, she was a member of the Emerald Beach Addition Women's Club.
Her favorite past times included riding horses, camping, and traveling. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include:
Three sons – Bruce Barragar (Linda) of Parsons, Kansas
Craig Barragar (Debbie) of Mound Valley, Kansas
Brice Barragar (Amy) of Riley, Kansas
One daughter – Kay Walker (Bill) of Parsons, Kansas
One daughter-in-law (widow of Allen Barragar) – Belinda Barragar Endicott
Ten grandchildren – Brent Barragar, Aaron Barragar, Shilo Walker, Cheyenne Walker, Cheynea Clifton, Angie Fogelman, Kristin Harlan, Brittnie Stevenson, Ashton Bailey, and Keaton Barragar

One great-great-grandchild
One brother – Kenneth Wheelen of Columbia, Missouri
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett, on June 17, 2023; one son, Allen Barragar; one brother, and three sisters.
