Marilyn Sprague

Marilyn J. Sprague, 83 , of Oswego, passed away at 8:10 a.m., on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Freeman Health Systems in Joplin, Missouri.

She was born August 9, 1935, at Oswego, Kansas to Robert W. and Helen (Clark) Tiffany. She attended schools in Oswego and Southern California. She was employed in the medical field as a medical assistant, laboratory and x-ray technician while in California. After returning to Oswego, she was employed by Labette County as Grant Administrator and Emergency Operations Director from 1974 until March of 1985. In 1987, she became property manager for low-income public housing in N. Kansas City and Columbia, Missouri until returning to Parsons as Executive Director for the Parsons Housing Authority until retiring October 1, 2005.

On May 18, 1962, she married Clarence (Pat) Martin in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death October 10, 1983. She and Russel Sprague married October 20, 1997 in Bentonville, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1999.

She is survived by a son, Michael A. "Tony" Martin, of McCune; a daughter, Tracy Lynn Riddle and her husband, Dean, of Chetopa; three grandsons, Josh Titus, Christopher Messer and Brett Messer; two granddaughters, Kailynn Renee Martin and Kymbree Jane Martin; five great-grandchildren, nephew, Brian Clark Tiffany; niece, Kelly Jane Endreola.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Robert H. Tiffany and Donald C. Tiffany and his beloved wife, Icle; and her loved daughter-in-law, Kanah Martin.

Burial of her cremains will be at Evergreen Cemetery near Montana, Kansas. The Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons is in charge of the arrangements.
