Marjorie E. Gearhiser, 80, of Grain Valley, Missouri, and a former resident of the Altamont and Edna area, passed away at 1:56 a.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at St. Luke's East Hospital in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
She was born August 7, 1934 near Coffeyville, Kansas to Leonard and Esther (Polk) Post. As a young girl, she moved with her family to the Edna area where she grew up and attended schools. She was a 1952 graduate of Labette County Community High School in Altamont.
On August 7, 1952, she and Kenneth H. Gearhiser were married in Edna. Marjorie worked in Coffeyville while her husband was serving in the United States Air Force. Upon his discharge from the Air Force, they lived and worked in Louisiana, Wichita, and the Kansas City area. Most recently, the couple has lived at Eagle Rock and Grain Valley, Missouri where they have enjoyed spending time with their family. Marjorie had attended the Church of Christ most of her life.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Gearhiser, of the home; two sons, Kent Gearhiser, Honolulu, HI, and Kevin Gearhiser and his wife, Penny, Holden, MO; one granddaughter, Chelci Gearhiser, who she loved with all of her heart; and one brother, Larry Post.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Jerry Post.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be at the Edna Elm Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time, on Saturday, at the funeral home.
