Martha Irene Putnam

Martha I. Putnam 66, of Parsons, died Thursday morning, August 20, 2015, at the home of her sister Betty Benedict in Parsons.

She was born August 19, 1949 in Vernon, Texas to Forrest Neal McQuarie and Irene (Coots) McQuarie. As a child, she moved with her family to Parsons, Kansas. She grew up and attended Washington Elementary, Parsons Junior High, and Parsons High School. Following high school she moved to Kansas City, Missouri and worked in nursing homes as a medication aide.
While in Kansas City she attended the Holiness Church.
She enjoyed computers.
She and Nathaniel Devereux Putnam were married on August 15, 1975 in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1997.

Survivors include:
One Brother – Larry N. McQuarie Parsons, Kansas
One Sister – Elizabeth "Betty" Benedict Parsons, Kansas
Numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 24, 2015 at the Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Friends May call from Noon to 5:00 p.m., Sunday at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home.
