Martin Claude Welch, 66, of Mound Valley, passed away at 2:04 p.m., Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born June 11, 1950 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Martin Eugene and June Isabell (Bircher) Welch. Martin grew up in Mound Valley where he attended Mound Valley Grade School and later graduated from Labette County High School in Altamont.
Following high school, he served in the United States Navy ten years. For several years, he worked at the Parsons Feed Lot.
Martin was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Bonner Springs, Kansas. He enjoyed photography.
Survivors include two brothers, Ronald Welch, of Muskogee, OK and Donald Welch, of Mound Valley, KS; and one sister, Eva Jenkins, of Bonner Springs, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Mound Valley Cemetery with military honors given by Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Parsons, Kansas. Services are under the direction of the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.
