Marvin Christz Draeger, 85, of Chetopa, died at 6:15 a.m., Monday, December 9, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.


He was born December 12, 1927 to Christz and Myrle (Ball) Draeger on a farm near Sherwin, Kansas. As a young boy, he attended Globe Rural School and was a 1945 graduate of Columbus High School.

On March 6, 1950, he married Bettie Sexton in Bentonville, Arkansas. He was a self-employed farmer/rancher and in earlier years had worked part-time as a mason's tender.

At the age of 83, he was baptized at the First Christian Church in Chetopa. He enjoyed hunting coyotes and coons and had various hunting dogs through the years.

Survivors include:
Wife – Bettie Draeger of the home, Chetopa, KS
Two Daughters – Connie Beecham and husband, Ron Columbus, KS
Martha Tilton Carthage, MO
Three Grandchildren
Four Great-Grandchildren
One Stepbrother – Wesley Ball and wife, Karen Colwich, KS

He was preceded in death by one brother, one stepsister and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery near Columbus. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
