Marvin Riley

Edna

Marvin D. "Ratz" Riley, 79, of Edna, died at 11:18 a.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at his home. He had been in his usual health and his death was unexpected.

He was born on July 19, 1939 in Craig County Oklahoma to Ernest and Hattie (Hubbard) Riley.  He attended Ideal Elementary school in Craig County before moving with his family to Edna, Kansas.  He graduated from Edna High School in 1958.

Mr. Riley worked for a number of farmers in the Edna area throughout his life.  He later worked at Sherwin-Williams in Coffeyville.

He enjoyed coyote hunting, gardening, and doing yard work.  He also played softball and bowled in Coffeyville leagues for many years.  Marvin was a part of the "Woodshed Coffee Club".  His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with family and friends.

On June 10, 1961, he and Louise Henry were married in Miami, Oklahoma.  She survives of the home.

Shelly Warren and her husband, Wayne         Coffeyville, Kansas

Nine Grandchildren

Nine great-grandchildren

One Brother – Archie Riley and his wife Mary                      Edna, Kansas

One Sister-in-Law – Sue Riley                                               Wichita, Kansas

He was preceded in death by one brother, Willard Riley, and one sister Norma Duvall.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 2019 at the Edna United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow in the Edna Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m., to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Church in Edna.

Memorial contributions are suggested to either the Edna Volunteer Fire Department or to the Edna Elementary School Playground Fund.  These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
