Marvin A. Royer

Marvin A. Royer, 91, a former Labette County resident, died at 8:20 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at the Woodbine Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Gladstone, Missouri. He had been in failing health.

He was born September 20, 1915, in Labette County, to George H. and Lena M. (Book) Royer. He grew up and attended schools in Wellsville, Kansas. He was employed by the State of Kansas at the Osawatomie State Hospital where he later retired.

He and Una Belle Stiles were married October 3, 1937, in Paola, Kansas. She preceded him in death February 6, 1996.

Following retirement, he began writing poetry as a hobby, and eventually, some of his writings were published. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altamont.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, George Royer in 2002; five brothers, Gene, Wayne, Lloyd, Dale and Leland Royer; one sister, Louise Castellaw; and one granddaughter, Terri Perkins.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 21, 2007, at the Richland Cemetery in Angola with his grandson-in-law, Rev Tim Perkins, officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Marvin A.
