Marvin F. "Tuffy" Garretson

Marvin F. "Tuffy" Garretson, 76, a lifelong resident of Parsons, died at 8:15 a.m., Thursday, September 23, 2010, at his home.

He was born February 28, 1934, in Parsons, Kansas, to James A. and Mary E. (Hamilton) Garretson. He grew up and attended Parsons schools. He was employed by the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant for 35 years and also did carpentry work.

He had attended Center Bethel Union Church and was a member of the Parsons Masonic Lodge No. 117, A.F. & A.M. and Elks – BPOE Lodge No. 527. He loved spending time with his family and friends and always enjoyed a good joke.

He and Jeanette E. Leonard were married November 23, 1952, in Huntsville, Arkansas. She survives of the home.

Jean Allen Parsons, KS

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 27, 2010, at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 p.m., Sunday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.

Memorials are suggested to the Center Bethel Union Church or Hospice Care of Kansas. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
