Mary Mae Allen, 90, of Chetopa, passed away Friday, August 11, 2006 at her home.
She was born February 28, 1916 in Punkin Center, Oklahoma to Otho Richard and Silver "Lud" (Dollar) Lucas. At the age of six, the family moved to Chetopa and she attended the local schools. On May 14, 1938 she married Vernon (Bus) Allen at Joplin, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 30, 1993. They raised their family in Chetopa and retired there. She was a housewife, restaurant worker, worked at the KAAP of Parsons in the 1950's and worked at the Glen Berry sewing factory in Chetopa. Mary Mae spent her later years, after her husband's passing, visiting, sewing, quilting and shopping. She attended the Chetopa First Assembly of God Church, was a member of the Chetopa Senior Citizens Association; Grandma's Club and participated in and enjoyed church functions. She was a member of the Miami Tribe.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa with Rev. Todd Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery east of Chetopa. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the First Assembly of God Church of Chetopa and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, P.O. Box 346, Chetopa, KS 67336.
