Mary C. Babcock, 99, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and formerly of Parsons, Kansas, passed away at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Mount St. Francis Nursing Center in Colorado Springs.
She was born October 27, 1918 in Parsons, Kansas to Romulo and Bernabe (Sanchez) Yanez. As a young girl, Mary grew up in Parsons where she attended Our Lady of Victory Catholic School.
On August 9, 1941, she and Marvin D. Babcock were married at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Parsons. After 45 years of marriage, the couple divorced.
Through the years, she worked as a caregiver. While living in Parsons, Mary was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, now St. Patrick's Catholic Church, its Altar Society, the Daughters of Isabella, and the church choir. She was also a member of the Elks – BPOE Lodge No. 527 Ladies Auxiliary and the Iris Society. She enjoyed music, singing, ballroom dancing, and was an expert iris gardener. Mary also volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store.
She later lived in Springfield, Missouri and Colorado Springs, Colorado before returning to Parsons in 1998. In 2000, she returned to Colorado Springs to be near her family. While living in Colorado Springs, she attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Mary was a unique and much loved person who celebrated God, life, and family.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ruben Yanez, Jesse Yanez, and Rojelio Yanez; five sisters, Avelina Hernandez, Julia Towler, Transito Fuentez, Francisca Hernandez, and Guadalupe Hernandez; and one son, Ronald Dean Babcock.
Memorial Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 12, 2018 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
