Mary F. Barber, 77, of Parsons, died at 8:25 p.m., Friday, July 13, 2007, at her home.
She was born May 1, 1930, in Caruthersville, Missouri, to Monroe and Ella Blant (Beard) Tyus. She grew up and attended schools in Caruthersville, Missouri. For several years, she worked as a certified nurse's aide. In 1959, she lived in Arkansas before moving to Chetopa in 1966, and finally to Parsons in 1989 where she had lived since.
She and Daniel Meadows, Sr. were married in 1945. They later divorced. In 1959, she and Harry Barber were married. He preceded her in death in 1995.
She enjoyed singing gospel music, attending church, fishing, traveling, cooking and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, some of which she had helped raise through the years. She was a member of the Hamilton Chapel United Methodist Church in Parsons.

She was preceded in death by one son, James Leroy Meadows; one granddaughter, Alisha Wright; one sister, Carrie Parsons, and twenty-three additional brothers and sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 19, 2007, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home.
