Mary Ann Barnhart

Mary Ann Barnhart, 86, of rural Erie, Kansas, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015 at her home. She was born January 12, 1929 in rural Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Oscar and Mae (Inman) LaSalle. Mary attended rural Chanute schools. On February 26, 1947, she and Cecil D. Barnhart were married in Chanute. Mrs. Barnhart was a homemaker and a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Erie where she served as a Sunday school teacher for more than 30 years. Mary Ann was a devoted Christian, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved being with and taking pictures of her grandchildren. Survivors include: Her husband of 68 years – Cecil D. Barnhart of the home, rural Erie, KS Six Sons – Allen Barnhart and wife, Toni Altoona, KS Carl Barnhart Chanute, KS Jay Barnhart and wife, Kristy Shaw, KS Ervin Barnhart and wife, Wendy Chanute, KS Harold Barnhart Bentley, KS Kelly Barnhart Erie, KS Four Daughters – Shirley Lero and husband, David Iola, KS Carolyn Gericke and husband, William Chanute, KS Sharon Haviland and husband, Barry Erie, KS Everly Bruneau and husband, Ricky Humboldt, KS 25 Grandchildren 32 Great-Grandchildren She was preceded in death by three sisters, Florence Clements, Jennie Roseberry, and Ruth Yowell; and one grandson, Brad Barnhart. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Temple Baptist Church in Erie with The Rev. Frank Thomas officiating. Interment will be in East Hill Cemetery in Erie. The family will receive friends from 3-5:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Temple Baptist Church in Erie. Memorial contributions may be made to the Temple Baptist Church in Erie.
