Mary Lou Beachner, 82, of Parsons, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2020, at her home.

She was born on September 16, 1937, to José and Ladislada (Ramiris) Calderon in Cherryvale, Kansas.  As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in Cherryvale.

Mary Lou first worked as a waitress for a few years.  Later, she began

working in nursing homes and was a restorative aide and elderly patient advocate at Arkhaven Nursing Home in Erie and Good Samaritan Society in Parsons.

In 1955, Mary Lou and William F. "Bill" Beachner were married.  They later divorced.

Mary Lou lived in St. Paul before moving to Parsons in 1987.  Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and sisters.  She was a cancer survivor.  Mary Lou was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed walking and exercising.  She also enjoyed spending time with her dear friend, Ed Willis.  They especially enjoyed traveling around the world.

She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul and later became a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons.  Mary Lou touched the lives of many through her generosity and words of wisdom.  She was a devout Catholic and based her life around her faith.

Survivors include:

One son – Rick Beachner of Pittsburg, Kansas

Three daughters – Brenda Power and husband, Chip, of Overland Park, Kansas

Sherri Schibi of Overland Park, Kansas

Jacque Forbes of Parsons, Kansas

Ten grandchildren – Brandon Perez; Christopher Marquardt; Ashton Forbes; Erin Forbes-Pidhaichuk and her husband, Ryan; Olivia Bonar; Austin Schibi; Brock Beachner; Bracquel Beachner; Allison Power; and Braxton Beachner

Five great-grandchildren

Two sisters – Mary Beeman of Peabody, Kansas

Carmen Calderon of Peabody, Kansas

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael William "Mickey" Beachner; one daughter, Jennifer Beachner; her parents; three brothers, Joseph, Michael and Frankie Calderon; and one sister, Connie Williams.

There will be a private family graveside service at St. Francis Cemetery in St. Paul.  Friends are welcome to sign the register 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.

The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday via youtube.com. The livestream may be accessed through youtube.com and search for St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Parsons, Ks.  You may also connect through St. Patrick's facebook page.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.  These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS  67357.
