Mary Catherine Boner, 91, of Parsons, died at 10:25 a.m., Friday, April 9, 2010, at Elmhaven West Nursing Home in Parsons.
She was born July 28, 1918, in Osage, Oklahoma, to Robert and Agnes (Bridgeman) Coons.
On April 18, 1940, she and William J. "Bill" Boner were married in Parsons. She attended Labette Community College in Parsons and, at the age of 56, received her RN license. During her nursing career, she did direct patient care at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita and Labette County Medical Center in Parsons.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons and its Altar Society. Following retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at St. Patrick's Catholic School in the computer lab.
She is survived by:
One Son – Robert Boner and wife, Carolyn Westminster, MD
Three Daughters – Mary Ann Whitlock and husband, Bob Phoenix, AZ
Susan Pavey and husband, Tom Minneapolis, MN
Pat Mabie and husband, Sid Wichita, KS
Ten Grandchildren
Twelve Great-Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. "Bill" Boner, August 20, 1986; son, Michael J. Boner, May 4, 2002; one brother and one sister.
The funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 19, 2010, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parsons. The rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons where the family will receive friends immediately following.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or the Kansas Humane Society. These may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
