Mary "Jane" Coomes, 87, of St. Paul, passed away the evening of September 23, 2021, at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.
Mary Jane LaForge was born on July 17, 1934, to Edward C. and Gertrude (Diskin) LaForge in Greenbush, Kansas. She attended school and grew up in St. Paul and Greenbush, graduating from St. Francis High School in 1952.
Following high school, Jane worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant for two years. On January 23, 1954, Jane and Charles "Darold" Coomes were united in marriage at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Greenbush. She devoted the rest of her life to making a warm, loving home for her family.
Jane was a faithful member of St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul and was a member of the Altar Society. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She also enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, feeding birds and walking.

Nine grandchildren – Mark Coomes and his wife, Gena; Coral Burns and her husband, Justin; Robyn Beard and her husband, Brian; Craig Coomes and his wife, Molly; Andrea Bishop; Trey Scallions; Trenton Jarboe and his wife, Lesle; Chase Coomes; and Makenzie Coomes

Jack LaForge of Pittsburg, Kansas
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darold, on December 29, 2016; three brothers, Paul, Bernard, and Pat LaForge; and three sisters, Roberta Padgett, Marilyn Vitt, and Phyllis McAtee.
The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 27, 2021, at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m., Monday, at St. Francis Catholic Church. Friends may call at the church from 1 – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, to sign the register.
