Mary M. Dreiling

Mary M. Dreiling, 93, formerly of Parsons, passed away at 7:17 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at Tiffany Springs Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Mary Margaret Switlik was born on January 21, 1927, to Thomas and Mary (Hanratty) Switlik in Kansas City, Missouri. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in Kansas City, Missouri. Upon graduating from high school, she worked at Emery Bird Thayer Department Store in downtown Kansas City.

On November 22, 1947, she and James E. "Jim" Dreiling were married in Independence, Missouri. The couple made their home in the Kansas City area and Mary was a devoted mother and homemaker. Following Jim's retirement, the couple moved to Parsons. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2013.

Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and later St. Patrick Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Parsons Quilting Club and won awards for her beautiful quilts. Her greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends. Besides sewing and quilting, she also enjoyed playing cards and games.

Christine Young and her husband, Mark, of Shawnee, Kansas

Three granddaughters

Three great-granddaughters

One great-great grandson

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Dreiling, on April 4, 2013; one daughter, Cecilia Baugher; and one granddaughter, Leslie Stubblefield.

There will be a graveside service at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 2020, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
