Mary Lou Mabery, 88, of Parsons, passed away at 4:10 a.m., Friday, February 19, 2021, at her home.
Mary Lou Kramer was born on May 31, 1932, to James Franklin and Mamie Frances (Taiclet) Kramer in Richard, Missouri. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in Bourbon County, Kansas.
On May 10, 1947, she and Carl Mabery were united in marriage in Girard, Kansas. In 1951, they moved to Parsons, where Mary Lou has lived since. Over the years, Mary Lou worked at a few local businesses, including the former Olson's Grocery from 1959 to 1968, the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant from 1968 to 1971, and the former Safeway store from 1975 to 1988. From 1988 to 1998, she worked as a Kirby Vacuum Sweeper repair and salesperson.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Parsons. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She also enjoyed dancing.
Survivors include:
One daughter: Frances Elaine Marshall and her husband, Dewey, of Independence, Kansas
Three grandchildren: Robyn Ellis, James Marshall, and Raelene Gorden
Four great-grandchildren: Hailey Marshall, Cody Marshall, Makena Driskill, and Joe Payne.
One great-great-granddaughter: Sophia Payne
Two sisters-in-law: Cecelia Kramer and Norma Kramer of Ft. Scott, Kansas
Numerous nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; one son, Ray Eugene; two brothers, Billy Eugene Kramer, James Joseph Kramer; one sister, Dorene Morrell; four half-brothers, John Kramer, Les Kramer, Charlie Kramer, and Bob Greene; and one-half sister, Patricia "Mae" Riley.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Godfrey, Kansas. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
