Mary M. "Margie" Burzinski

Mary M. "Margie" Burzinski, 92, of Parsons, passed away at 1:20 p.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Parsons Presbyterian Manor. She was born December 9, 1921 on the family farm near South Mound, Kansas to John Omer Johnston and Mary Olive (Pontious) Johnston. She was the third of eleven children in the family. She grew up in rural Neosho County and worked at the Kansas Ordinance Plant. She later moved with her sister, Rita to California. It was in California that she met and married her husband, Stephen J. Burzinski, who was serving there in the Marine Corps. The couple was married on October 7, 1944 in Santa Barbara. Following her husband's discharge, they moved to Parsons in 1946. Mr. Burzinski preceded her in death on November 25, 1993. Mrs. Burzinski worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant, and the Presbyterian Manor. Through the years, she babysat for her grandchildren and she enjoyed taking care of others. She also enjoyed quilting and working crossword puzzles. She was a faithful member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and attended daily mass as often as she was able. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Altar Society. She also volunteered at the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Survivors: Four Sons: Stephen J. Burzinski and his wife Trina Piedmont, Oklahoma Robert J. Burzinski and his wife Pam Parsons, Kansas Bernard J. Burzinski and his wife Jane Overland Park, Kansas Gerald E. Burzinski and companion Sarah Mission, Kansas Six Daughters: Marianne Brown and her husband Larry Garland, Texas Janie M. Sprague and her husband Ted Oswego, Kansas Judi Collins and her husband Sherman Parsons, Kansas Nancy Nance and her husband Raymond Corsicana, Texas Martha Westhoff and her husband Rob Parsons, Kansas Rose Mary Brenneman and her husband Chris Hot Springs, Arkansas Thirty-four grandchildren, Thirty-four great-grandchildren and one on the way, two great-great-grandchildren and one on the way. One Brother: Don Johnston Cherryvale, Kansas Three Sisters: Rita Horton Parsons, Kansas Olive Haight Chanute, Kansas Mignon Yates Glen Burnie, Maryland In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 5, 2014 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the church. The family will receive friends at 7:30 p.m., following the Rosary in the Parish Hall.
