Mary "Jane" Morris

Mary "Jane" Morris, 79, of Parsons, passed away at 11:08 a.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in the Emergency Room at Labette Health. She was born November 8, 1935 on the family farm near Wayside, Kansas, a daughter of Earl E. and Lillie Jane (Lawson) Wiley. She grew up and attended schools in Wayside, graduating from Wayside High School in 1953. She later attended business college in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She worked at Relco Laminating Products, Independence Laundry, and Valley Distributors. In 1966, she moved to Parsons with Valley Distributors. While living in Parsons, she also worked at the First Presbyterian Church, Parsons Eye Clinic, Parsons Country Club, the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant and, most recently, had managed Prairie West condominiums. She and her husband, Sam, also owned and operated Morris Management. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, golfing, fishing, and bowling. On June 24, 1958, she and Charles L. Ele were married. They later divorced. On November 19, 1971, she and Sam L. Morris were married in Parsons. He survives of the home. In addition to her husband, survivors include three sons, Gene Ele, Parsons, KS, Chris Morris, Edmond, OK, and Dana Morris, Yuma, AZ; three daughters, Robin Hall, Parsons, KS, Tammy Brown, Mound Valley, KS, and Jan McMahon, Yuma, AZ; daughter-in-law, Margaret Ele, Williamsburg, KS; twenty grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Michael "Mike" Ele, on February 1, 1998; a stepdaughter, Margaret "Peggy" Morris; one brother, James Wiley; one sister, Marie Corkins; and three grandchildren, Chad, Jamie, and Stephanie. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 19, 2014 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville. The rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick's School Endowment Fund. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
