Mary Ruth “Ruthie” Myers, born November 2, 1953, to Roy A. and Thelma I. (McWhirt) Myers, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Parsons.
Ruthie grew up in Kansas and Oklahoma and lived a life filled with creativity, determination, laughter, and love for others. She had a bright, funny, and sometimes delightfully sarcastic personality that made her memorable to everyone who knew her. She had a lovable spirit and a way of bringing her own special spark into every room.
For several years, Ruthie owned and operated a malt shop in Braggs, Oklahoma, where she enjoyed serving and connecting with people in her community. Later, she decided to further her education and earned bachelor’s degrees in both Graphic Arts and Drafting.
Ruthie had a natural flair for decorating and loved making things beautiful. She also loved cooking for others and found joy in preparing meals for family and friends. She had a deep love for animals and was never afraid of the unusual – at one point, she even had a wolf as a pet.
Above all, Ruthie was a devoted and loving mother and a caring sister. Her family meant the world to her, and the love she gave them will remain with them always. Her laughter, humor, creativity, and one-of-a-kind personality will be deeply missed.
Ruthie is survived by her son, Michael Hamby; her sister, Cozette Sheeley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy A. and Thelma I. Myers; her brothers, Clarence Earl Myers, Arthur Leroy Myers, and Orgel Lynn Myers; and her sister, Sheila Ann Wallace.
Ruthie leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy of love, laughter, and family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her bright spirit and unforgettable personality will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
