Mary C. Reyes

Mary C. Reyes, 87, of Fairmont City, Illinois, and former longtime resident of Parsons, Kansas, died Friday, June 16, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois.

She was born on April 13, 1930 in Chanute, Kansas to John and Ruby (Moody) Lopez.  She later moved to Parsons where she married Lucio Reyes on June 21, 1947.  She worked as a cook at the former La Casa Grande for several years.  After raising her children, she moved to Fairmont City, Illinois.

Mary was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt.  She will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her children, Patricia Rivera of Fairmont City, IL, Luciana (Lupe) Ramirez of Collinsville, IL, Angel (Pat) Reyes of AR, Dolores Samora of Security, CO, Ruby Reyes of Collinsville, IL, Mary Margaret Villagomez of Centralia, IL, Rachel (Scott) Check of Parsons, KS, Lucio (Anna) Reyes, Jr., of Troy, IL, John (Monica) Reyes of Collinsville, IL and Martin Reyes of Parsons, KS; 35 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Pauline (Tommy) Flores of Fredonia, KS, Juanita Lopez of Kansas City, KS, Richard Aguilar of Arkansas City, KS, and Paul (Roxie) Aguilar of Augusta, KS.  Mary is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lucio Reyes, Sr.; her parents, John and Ruby Lopez; one daughter, Anna C. "Annie" Buffa; one brother, Paul Lopez; and one sister, Margaret Kucharski.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 22, 2017 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parsons.  The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.  The family will receive friends at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home immediately following the rosary.
