Mary Jo Robison, 85, of Brandon, Mississippi, formerly of Parsons, died at 4:10 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
She was born April 26, 1926, in South Mound, Kansas, to John Omer and Mary Olive (Pontious) Johnston. As a young girl, she grew up in the South Mound area and was a graduate of St. Paul High School. For a time, she worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons.
On April 10, 1947, she married Vester "Vic" Robison in Arkansas City, Kansas. In 1950, they moved to Parsons where they lived for a few years before moving to the Chanute and Earlton area, where they farmed. They then lived in Altamont for a time before moving to Jackson, Mississippi. In 1983, they returned to Parsons. Mr. Robison preceded her in death October 15, 2002. In 2006, she moved to Jackson, Mississippi to be near family.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Parsons and, in earlier years, had served as an active volunteer at various church gatherings. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, John "Bud" Johnston; three sisters, Patricia Nelson, Dorothy Treiber and Catherine Johnston; and daughter-in-law, Mary Alice Robison.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2012, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Ft. Scott National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
