Mary Alice Shears, 79, of Parsons, died at 4:13 a.m., Monday, March 16, 2009, at her home. She had been in failing health.
She was born April 18, 1929, in St. Paul, Kansas, to Harry and Katy (Wilson) Moses. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in St. Paul.
She and Lester L. Shears were married July 31, 1948, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Following marriage, they lived in Parsons where she worked at ParKan Manufacturing Company.
She enjoyed family camping and fishing trips, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching daytime soap operas, game shows, the Top 20 Countdown, playing bingo and listening to country music. Through the years, she had many pet Chihuahuas and cats, and had collected numerous cat figurines.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Shears, on October 9, 1987; five brothers, Don, Earl, Clyde, Billy and Bobby; and eight sisters, Stella, Gladys, Irene, Alfreda, Norma, Eileen, Cleta and Chrystal.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 19, 2009, at East Bethany Cemetery. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
