Mary E. Williams

Mary E. Williams, 77, of Parsons, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Labette Health.

Mary Elizabeth Williams was born August 25, 1944, to James A. and Jewel G. Williams in Parsons.  She grew up and attended schools in Parsons, graduating from Parsons High School in 1963 and attended Labette Community College.  She was a cook for the Youth Crisis Shelter for 15 years and at the Parsons Head Start for 37 years.

She was a member of the Watson Memorial Church of God in Christ in Parsons. Mary loved organizing family reunions, scrapbooking, doing crafts, watching sports, and reading her Bible daily.

Survivors include:

One son:                      Tyrone T. Williams (Claressa Poole) of Wichita, Kansas

Three grandsons:          DeJaun Williams of Dallas, Texas

Juwaun Williams of Olathe, Kansas

Tyson Williams of Parsons, Kansas

One great-grandchild:   Keilyn Williams, of Parsons, Kansas

One brother:  Kenneth Williams (Lorri) of Parsons, Kansas

One sister – Iris Turner (Jim) of Parsons, Kansas

One brother-in-law – Charles Gatewood of Parsons, Kansas

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James Williams, Jr.; and five sisters, Arthella "Tootie" Richardson, Louise Dunn, Viola Gatewood, Lovey Williams, and Delores McWilliams.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Watson Memorial COGIC.  Burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons.  A family visitation will be on Friday, April 22, 2022 at the Watson Memorial COGIC in Parsons from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
