Okmulgee

Marylan K. Melton, 78 of Okmulgee, Oklahoma and a former Parsons resident, passed away June 11, 2020 at her home. She had been having health problems for a few years.

She was born June 4, 1942, in Lamar, Missouri, the daughter of the late Lloyd Johnny Zinn and Bertha Mae (Faubian) Zinn. She grew up in Alluwe, Oklahoma and attended schools there. They moved to Parsons, Kansas, where she graduated from Parsons High School. After graduation she married Earl Wayne Melton on May 6, 1960 in Miami, Oklahoma. During his time in the Army, she got to travel to different states and countries. They settled down in Parsons, Kansas in 1977, where she was a substitute teacher for the 506 school district. She loved going dancing and being with her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Marylan is survived by her daughter, Linda K Melton Smith and husband John Smith, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; four grandkids; Shane Smith of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; Darren Blasor and wife, Agustina, of Parsons, Kansas; Michael Blasor and Sarah Jones of Parsons, Kansas; and Jason Blasor of Derby, Kansas.  She had so many more grandkids that had come into her life that she called her own. She had four great-grandkids; Izaya Blasor, Abbie Jones, Seth Jones, and Quincey Jones. She had so many more great-grandkids that she loved. She will be missed and loved by not only family but all the people she has touched.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 19 th , 2020, at Springhill Cemetery in Parsons, Kansas, where she will be laid to rest with her husband and parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Proud Animal Lovers Shelter (PALS) of Parsons.  These may be left at or mailed to the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, PO Box 374, Parsons, KS  67357.
