MaryLea Ashcraft, 93, of Parsons, passed away the morning of Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Parsons Presbyterian Manor.
MaryLea Braden was born on July 19, 1930, to Guy and Pearl (Francis) Braden in rural Chanute, Kansas. She grew up and attended school in St. Paul, graduating from St. Paul High School.
For many years, MaryLea was the head cook at Parsons Middle School. Following her retirement from the school, she was a delivery driver for All Seasons Floral.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. MaryLea and her husband worked together growing a large garden. Her love and devotion to her family was shown through her many hours spent canning the produce of that garden and preparing wonderful meals for them. Travel was also a favorite pastime, visiting many places and often spending the winter in Texas.
On January 10, 1950, MaryLea and Glen Ashcraft were united in marriage. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2001.

One son – Larry Ashcraft and his fiancé, Joanne Daigle, of Belle Chasse, Louisiana
Four grandchildren – Mark Ogle and his wife, Ann, of Frontenac, Kansas; Traci Ogle and her fiancé, Rick, of Olathe, Kansas; Amber McKenzie and her husband, Bryan, of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; and Dawn Jarrett and her fiancé, Mark Norman, of Pittsburg, Kansas

Son-in-law – Allen Ogle of Parsons, Kansas
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Ashcraft; her daughter, Marsha Ogle; and two brothers, Jack and Gary Braden.
There will be a graveside service at Noon on Monday, October 30, 2023, at East Hill Cemetery in Erie. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
