Matthew H. Carrillo

Matthew H. Carrillo, 78, of Parsons, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Elmhaven Nursing Home, Parsons, Kansas.

Matthew Henry Carrillo was born on February 24, 1948, to Henry and Juanita (Muñoz) Carrillo in Parsons, Kansas. He grew up and attended school in Barrington, Illinois, until age 14, when he moved to Parsons. He moved in with and was raised by his aunt and uncle, Sara and Prudencio Muñoz.

For over 40 years, Matthew worked for Woodworth Industries as a caregiver and restorative aide. He was known as the “miracle worker” due to his special gift in helping people regain their health and ability when under his care.

A talented artist, Matthew loved to draw and paint. He had a special place in his heart for the elderly, mentally challenged adults and dogs, of which he had many through the years.

He is survived by a brother, Joe Carrillo, from the Kansas City area, and his cousins, as well as numerous nieces and nephews,  good friends, Brad Woodworth and Bill McAtee, and his dog, Goober.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry Carrillo; and three sisters, Florence Ortiz, Teresa Carrillo, and Rosie Munoz-Smith.

The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
