Maurice Ray Conway, 92, of Parsons, Kansas, formerly of Fairfield, Illinois, died at 4:40 a.m., Monday, August 18, 2008, at Elmhaven West Nursing Home in Parsons.
He was born May 9, 1916, in Rat, Missouri, to William and Eunice (Hudspeth) Conway. As a young boy, he grew up in Missouri and later moved to Fairfield, Illinois, where he graduated high school.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from July 29, 1942, to November 11, 1945, and was a member of the 897th Air Engineering Squadron.
Following his discharge, he worked for the U.S. Army Signal Corps in Decatur, Illinois. Throughout his career, which included working at the Pentagon, he lived in various cities across the United States. In February 2007, he moved to Parsons to be near family.
He enjoyed traveling, fishing, horses and spending time on farms. He also enjoyed baseball and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He and Myra Florence Cadman were married April 3, 1945, in England. They later divorced. He and Rose Ann Parlapiano were married June 1, 1953. They later divorced.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ida Maude Conway, Mary Alice Crawford and Ruth Vining.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Thursday, August 21, 2008, at the Johnson Funeral Home in Fairfield, Illinois. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield, Illinois.
The Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons is in charge of local arrangements.
