Maurine "MeMe" Turner, 89, of Parsons, died at 11:58 p.m., Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Labette Health in Parsons.

She was born September 13, 1924 in Hackberry Township, Labette County, Kansas to Elmer George and Elizabeth Pearl (Wadsack) Cunningham. As a young girl, she grew up in rural Labette County where she attended Hyatt School through fifth grade. She then moved with her family in 1936 to Oswego where she attended school.

On October 12, 1946, she and Mewburn B. "Tony" Turner were married. They moved to Parsons in 1948. Through the years, she worked at S.H. Kress and Company, the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant, Sears and Cablevision. She and her husband moved to Monkey Island, Oklahoma during her working years. Her husband preceded her in death on December 1, 1981. Following his death she returned to Parsons. She and Harry Hill were married February 28, 1983. They divorced in 1987.

Through the years, she had attended the Parsons Nazarene Church and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed ceramics, playing cards, bowling and dancing. While living at Grand Lake, she also enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include two nieces, Connie Buddenhagen and her husband, Ed of Oswego and Barbara Jean Weiss of Oswego; and nephew, Carl Kabrey and his wife, Sara of Chetopa; great nieces, Cris Buddenhagen and companion Chris Blansett of Parsons and Stephanie Dwyer and her husband Derek of Parsons; great nephew, Ryan Buddenhagen, of Oswego; and great-great nieces and nephews, Cameron, Erynn, and Emilee Blansett; Sloan and Drew Dwyer; Cody Buddenhagen, and Chase McGonegal.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers and eight sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Oswego Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home.
