Maxine Fox

Maxine Fox, 86, of Carthage, Missouri, died at 6:15 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2006 at the home of her son and his wife, Jerry and Beverly Fox, in Butler, Missouri.

She was born January 26, 1920 in rural Cherokee County, Kansas to John Irving and Lora Alta (Mullins) Russell. As a young girl she moved with her family to Parsons where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from Parsons High School and Parsons Jr. College.

She married Willard N. Fox on October 14, 1939 in Parsons. In Parsons, she worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant until she and her husband moved to Stark in 1954 where she was a bookkeeper for Union LP Gas. While in Stark, she was an active member of Chanute Church of the Nazarene.

In 1966, the family moved to Independence where she continued to work for Union LP Gas. While living in Independence, she was active in the Independence Nazarene Church. She returned to Parsons in 1998 and resided there until 2005 at which time she moved to Carthage, Missouri to be near her children.

She loved cooking, bird watching, traveling and entertaining her family and friends. She was a charter member of the Parsons Church of the Nazarene and presently a member of the Carthage Church of the Nazarene.

Eight Great-grandchildren - Luke, Jacob and Keelan Terrell
Hannah, Abigail and Emma Grace Smith
Camden and Lane Dillow

She was preceded in death by her husband; infant daughter, Joyce Lorea Fox;
one brother and two sisters.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at the Church of the Nazarene in Parsons with Rev. Dustin Ledford and Rev. Jim Dillow officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2006 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
