Mary "Maxine" Hiatt, 92, formerly of Altamont, died at 3:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at St. Francis Health System in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She was born June 21, 1920, in rural McCune, Kansas, to Charles and Mary (Pintar) Perry. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in McCune where she was a 1938 graduate of McCune High School.
Through the years, Maxine worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant; and as a cook at Labette County Community High School, the Katy Hospital and Labette County Medical Center until retiring.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and had served on the Board of Directors for both the Altamont Public Library and the Altamont Senior Citizens.
She and William "Max" Hiatt were married October 5, 1941, in Labette City, Kansas. Following marriage, they lived in several cities before moving to Altamont in 1955. He preceded her in death on November 7, 1995.

Two Daughters – Janice Hiatt Tulsa, OK
Cheryl Hiatt Tulsa, OK
One grandson - Matt Hiatt and his wife, Ashley Duenweg, MO
One great-granddaughter - Amelia Hiatt Duenweg, MO
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Lenard Perry; and one sister, Rose Howey.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
