Maxine Lumm

W. Maxine Lumm, 88, of Chanute, and formerly of Altamont, died at 6:45 a.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.
She was born April 9, 1919, in Altamont, to Samuel and Edith (Hannigan) Reid. As a young girl, she grew up and attended schools near Valeda, Kansas and was a graduate of Labette County Community High School.
She and Marion Ernest Lumm were married August 2, 1939, in Columbus, Kansas. He preceded her in death July 29, 1983. In 2005, she moved to Chanute to be near family. She had resided at the Chanute Healthcare Center since that time.
Through the years, she was employed as a cook at Altamont Grade School. In earlier years, she attended the Presbyterian Church in Oswego and was a member of the Sew and Chat Club.

One Daughter - Melba Gahagan and her husband, Leonard Chanute, KS
One Son - Larry Lumm and his wife, Katie Mt. Vernon, TX
Four Grandchildren
Seven Great-Grandchildren
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Reid.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 1, 2008, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience.
