Melanie Mason

After a long journey with Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease, Melanie Mason, 62, went home to her Lord on June 29, 2017, at 10:20 a.m., at the Good Samaritan Society in Parsons, KS.

Melanie was born to Marion and Adanell Buffum Snider on March 15, 1955, in Siloam Springs, AR. She grew up on the John Brown University campus where her father worked for 45 years. Her first jobs were on that campus where she worked in the snack bar and as a lifeguard.

Melanie graduated from Siloam Springs High School in 1973, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Business Education in 1977 from John Brown University.

Melanie and Wayne Mason were united in marriage July 2, 1977. Melanie worked as a pastor's wife and stay-at-home mother. Over the years, she learned sign language in order to work with the hearing impaired and volunteered in the church and local educational institutions.

Melanie is survived by her husband, Wayne, of the home; three children: Martha Cox (David), Parsons, KS, Joanna Hankins (Eric), Overland Park, KS, Matthew Mason, Olathe, KS; her sister Nancy Snider, Tulsa, OK, brother, Stewart Snider, Conway, AR, brother-in-law, Howard Wisdom, Grandview, MO; in-laws: parents, Bill and Betty Mason, El Dorado, KS, sisters, Cristie Roberts (Steve), Kim Kaufman (Tim); five grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents, sister Ann Wisdom, and sister-in-law Pam Snider.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017, at the Parsons Foursquare Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
