Melvin R. Catlin

Melvin Catlin, 88, of Erie, passed away at 7:10 a.m., Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at Good Samaritan Society in Parsons.

He was born on October 23, 1932, to Harry and Nora Rebell (Coble) Catlin in Wichita, Kansas. In his youth, he moved to the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center and continued to live in the southeast Kansas area the rest of his life.

His favorite things in life were watching Westerns on television, listening to Country music, eating white donuts and drinking Pepsi.

Survivors include:

One sister – Esther Highfill and her husband, George, of Wichita, Kansas

Numerous friends at Living Skills Center and ResCare

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Harry Catlin, Jr., Ernest Catlin, Clifford Catlin and Raymond Catlin; and two sisters, Mary Rich and Irene Hanson.

There will be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 26, 2021, at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons. Friends may call at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home to sign the register from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday.
