Michael L. Garretson, 69, of Parsons, passed away at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, April 27, 2023, at University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City, Kansas, surrounded by loved ones.
Michael Lee Garretson was born August 3, 1953, to Marvin F. "Tuffy" and Jeanette E. (Leonard) Garretson in Parsons, Kansas. As a young boy, he grew up and attended school in Parsons, graduating from Parsons High School in 1971.
He accomplished many things in his life, a few that he was most proud were his tour of serving in the United States Navy, working 13 years on the MKT Railroad and his electrical and welding skills.
His greatest joy in life was the love he had for his family, especially his children. A kind, generous, caring friend, Michael treasured every friendship and had the special ability to entertain everyone he met. Michael was an avid fisherman and hunter and often shared his bounty with family and friends.

Callie Garretson (Skyler Sumner) of Parsons, Kansas
Clinton Garretson of Parsons, Kansas
Three grandchildren and one on the way
Three great-grandchildren
Two step-grandchildren
Three siblings – Tony Garretson (Beverly) of Olpe, Kansas
Randy Garretson (Cheryl) of Shawnee, Kansas
Sandy Lanning (John) of Lee's Summit, Missouri
Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin "Tuffy" Garretson, on November 23, 2010.
The memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial with military honors presented by Brown-Bishop VFW Post 704 and the United States Naval Honor Guard at Oakwood Cemetery will follow. The family will receive friends beginning at noon until the service begins at the funeral home.
