Michael L. Giefer

August 11, 1962 — April 23, 2008

Michael L. "Mike" Giefer, 45, of Parsons, died at 3:45 a.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin. He had been in his usual health and death was not expected.

He was born August 11, 1962, in Parsons, to Richard A. and Sharon K. (Conley) Giefer. He grew up in the South Mound area. He attended St. Patrick's Elementary School in Parsons, and was a 1980 graduate of Erie High School.

For over 20 years, he worked at Columbian Tec Tank before becoming a partner at Tank Connections, in Parsons, where he was currently serving as Vice President of Operations.

He enjoyed golf and coaching his children's football and baseball teams. He especially enjoyed being an avid fan of his children's sporting events.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Elks BPOE Lodge No. 527 and was a graduate of Leadership Parsons.

He and Karrie George were married May 9, 1997, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joe and Leta Conley; and his paternal grandparents, Fritz and Corene Giefer.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 28, 2008, at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parsons. The Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, April 27, 2008, at St. Patrick's School Gymnasium in Parsons. The family will receive friends immediately following the Rosary in the Parish Hall.
